Delightful examples of typica rural architecture may still be found in two of the municipality neighbourhoods, Chiopris and Viscone; especially in the former, the extant structures are of ancient origins. In the parish church of Chiopris the high altar dates from 1695 and was made by Leonardo Pacassi, the altar maker and sculptor native to Gorizia. The altarpiece it contains is a painting by Pietro Bainville portraying St. Michael defeating the devil, while the frescoes are by Giusto Justulin (1911) and two small votive paintings with St. Norburga and St. Fran-cesco Saverio are by Valentino Marani (19th cent.). In the church of S. Zenone at Viscone, the 20th-century high altar by G.B. Novelli has 18th-century statues. Here again, the frescoes are by Justulin (in the choir) and Lorenzo Bianchini (1870 ca.) on the nave ceiling.
