The flat countryside in the -bassa Pordenonese- (the southern part of the province) is the ideal location for cycling excursions and offers a wide range of Renaissance devotional painting. For example, the church of San Giorgio at Chions preserves the most considerable series of Saints and Virgins with Child visible in the -Destra Tagliamento-, the area right of the river: painted in Bellunello’s style, such frescoes are all dated to the first quarter of 1500s. The church of San Liberale at Villotta repeats the same paratactic decorative pattern, although the traits of Bellunello’s followers are complemented with Pietro da San Vito’s trait (St. Bovo and St. Apollonia, 1520 ca.). Finally, the church of San Bartolomeo at Basedo complements the already mentioned iconography with a Virgin of Mercy (end of 15th-early 16th cent.) in which the worshippers are portrayed in the Virgin’s embrace.
