The town is linked to one of the most important Roman kilns in the X Regio Venetia et Histria, found in the neighbourhood called Chiamana, which operated between the Augustan Age and the 5th century. The kiln produced various types of bricks and, at a later stage, also glass ceramic, as the area was rich in clay deposits, woods (e.g., the woods of the plains called Bolderatis and Venchiaratis), water springs and resurgences, and, last but not least, it was┬ánot far from the sea. These features had made the area the ideal choice for rustic settlements since protohistory and for productive and craft activities in Roman times. Dating to more recent times are the central parish church of S. Tommaso Apostolo (17th-18th centuries) built on a pre-existing church, containing 18th – and 19th- century fittings, and the church of SS. Gervasio and Protasio, in the neighbourhood of San Gervasio and finally, the Church of S. Tommaso Becket (17th-18th cent.) and, in the neighbourhood of Casino, the Church of S. Domenico (17th cent.).
